Rose's Angels Project
You are here
Dear Friends, Family and Past Donors,
On behalf of Lynne Fader and myself, Courtney Cohen, we would like to invite you to participate in the fourth "annual"- event in honour and in memory of Rose Lewin. Rose passed away in June of2012, but she left behind a legacy of love and compassion for all who knew her. Rose's love for cooking, baking and the joy which she received from helping others is and always will be the inspiration for this project.
Our goal is to gather a group of people who wish to take time out of their busy lives to brighten the lives of those less fortunate this coming February. The month of February is special because it's both Heart Month and the birthday month of Rose Lewin. We plan to provide hygiene care packages, various non perishable food items and warmth bundles to
1000 Richmond individuals in programs such as: Richmond Food Bank, Light of Shabbat program, Transitional Housing, Jewish Food Bank, Richmond Family Place, Kehila hot meals and multiple other outreach programs.
Care Package Items:
1. Packaged dried fruit or nuts (i.e. raisins, trail mix)
2. Canned foods (i.e. soup, tuna)
3. Boxed foods (i.e. mac & cheese/rice/pasta)
4 Individually packaged baked goods (i.e. granola bar, energy bar, cookies, oatmeal, pudding, jello)
5. Peanut Butter
6. Juice Box/Hot Chocolate/Tea
7. Individually Wrapped Chocolate
8. Toiletry Items such as; toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, floss, body wash, soap, mini shampoo/conditioner, feminine hygiene products, and tissues
Warmth Bundle Items:
1. Toque
2. Gloves or Mittens
3. Thermal Socks
This year's event is especially significant because of the addition of our new Beauty for Babs component, in memory of Babs Cohen. Courtney's grandmother Babs, who passed away in September 2016, was a woman of elegance, grace and beauty. Throughout her lifetime she supported and donated to multiple organizations that were near to her heart. In Babs' honour we will be accepting donations of new unopened beauty care products/cosmetic items such as- hair accessories, lotions, makeup, etc.
Lastly, we will be gathering a group of volunteers to package items on Sunday, February 12th, 2017 and deliver packages to predetermined locations for distribution.
If this project is something you're interested in volunteering for, the areas in need are:
• donations of funds or goods
• packaging
• collecting
• delivery of packages
Sincerely,
Courtney Cohen
